Meet of Champions
The Meet of Champions is a two-day, invitational style championship meet held typically at the end of July and hosted by one of the MCSSL (Morris County Summer Swim League) teams. This year's MOC will take place July 26th and July 27th.
The process for preparing for MOC, being chosen to compete in the MOC, and the meet itself are detailed below (this is subject to change for the 2025 season)
Selection Process:
o A swimmer must have swum in three (3) dual meets with their team during the current season in order to be eligible to swim in MOC and must have swum each entered event legally in one of those meets. Swimmers cannot be entered with No Time (NT)
o A swimmer may not swim out of their age group, except in the step-up relay.
o Each team is given a finite number of entries for each event. Each team is only allowed to enter three (3) swimmers in each event.
o Each swimmer is allowed to swim two (2) individual events and one (1) relay, or one (1) individual event and two (2) relays. o Once a determination is made of who is available to attend the meet, the coaches will determine meet entries for MOC.
o Entries will be sent out during the week leading up to the MOC. Typically, a team is able to enter all swimmers who wanted to attend the meet, and who met the requirements for entry into the meet, but it is possible that your child will not be entered into MOC. While this may be a disappointing outcome, please help your children understand that this is part of the competitive process and help them use it as motivation to be selected for the MOC next season.
Preparing for the meet:
o In the week leading up to MOC, practices will be held that are mandatory for all swimmers attending the meet and optional for all other swimmers, as the regular season has concluded at that point.
The Meet:
o The MOC is split by age groups. 10 & Under swim one session and 11 & Over swim another session.
o Both sessions will be early morning sessions. It is important that you arrive on time so that you can participate. Due to pool space limitations at MOC, there may not be another opportunity for your swimmer to warm up if you are not present on time.
o When you arrive, locate the team area and let the coaches know you are there immediately.
o If you are late, it is possible your swimmer will be scratched from their assigned events, and other swimmers entered in their place. o The format of this meet is very similar to regular dual meets. However, be prepared for there to be many more heats in each event than your swimmer is used to as there are many more people.
o The host team will have a marshalling system set up to assist your swimmers in finding their events. The marshalling system will function based on a unique and specific system of writing events on your swimmer’s right shoulder. Please make sure you follow this system! Make a chart on your swimmer’s right shoulder as follows:

o The coaches will be away from the team area, watching the swimmers’ races and writing down times, so it is critical that parents are actively involved in supervising our swimmers during the meet.
o When your swimmer’s events are finished, do not leave without letting the coaches know. Swimmers may need to swim a relay that they originally were not entered in.
o Also, each league team will have a number of volunteer positions that are required to be filled. Our volunteer coordinator will arrange these assignments prior to the meet.
o After the meet has concluded, the coaches will collect the team’s ribbons and medals and distribute them at the end of season team banquet.
